A thoroughly informative and enjoyable morning was spent at The Poppy Factory, right in the heart of Richmond. After a brief presentation, we were shown how to make poppies. Our production rate wasn't up to the talented staff's super fast production rate but we wore our poppies with pride on Remembrance Sunday.
The Cambrian Choir led the singing of Christmas Carols and festive tunes at a well attended concert supported by clients, choir members and volunteers on 11/12. We are so grateful to all those who gave up their afternoon to perform to our guests.
A group of clients visited the Victorian Christmas in the Victorian School Room at The Holly Lodge Centre. A large traditional Christmas tree was decorated with Victorian decorations.
The group decorated photo frames, made orange and clove pomanders and filled lavender bags whilst listening to carols and eating mince pies.
We are delighted that Susanna and Julia, the team behind making Richmond Hill Open Gardens such a successful event will be giving a presentation, with slides, tomorrow at The Cambrian Centre at 2pm.
15 stunning gardens were open to the public and we are very lucky that we can show these gardens to some of our clients who might otherwise not have got to see them.
Free to attend. Tea and biscuits available after the presentation.
Paul Velluet, local historian and architect gave a really interesting presentation on "Old and New Richmond" on 11/9 to over 30 clients and volunteers. Enhanced by a slide show of buildings around Richmond, Paul prompted many memories, especially for some longer term residents who recalled the milk cart drawn by horse and cart coming up Queens Road, the Old Fire Station and of course landmarks such as The Star and Garter and Richmond Theatre.
Many of those attending are residents on the Queens Road Estate so it was fascinating to hear about the history of this area and how it was developed.
Thank you to our volunteers who make these events possible by driving clients to and from the venue and to David at The Cambrian Centre for use of the room.
Richmond Good Neighbours is hosting their monthly tea at The Cambrian Centre, 1 Grove Road, TW10 6NS with a Trip to the Seaside theme on 14/8 from 2pm -3.30pm.
